Hexham Conservatives Deliver Christmas Social Action Project.

Tuesday, 21 December, 2010

This year Hexham Conservatives and Guy Opperman MP chose to support SOS, a charity which supports our troops serving on the front line. Local members and Conservative Future have been collecting care packages to be sent to our serving troops – following up on Guy’s election pledge to ‘do his bit’ for our troops.

The project has had an overwhelming response with everyone from local schools to local shops getting involved to show their support for our troops. Hexham Conservatives Chairman Antony Braithwaite described the response as 'simply fantastic' whilst local MP Guy Opperman has used the opportunity to highlight the importance of Social Action to the modern Conservative Party.

Guy said "Social Action projects like this are invaluable both to the Conservatives involved and to those they benefit; they help rebuild trust in politics and allow us politicians to leave Westminster behind and constantly remind ourselves what really matters."

Throughout next year Guy and you local Conservatives will be unveiling a number of exciting projects. Get involved and you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in your local community. These projects will be your chance to contribute directly to our Big Society.
